Rainbow Edition of the Quilters’ Playcation Adventure Sewalong
While I suggested this concept in the initial launch video on You Tube for the Quilters’ Playcation Adventure Sewalong, I didn’t really have plans to make it. But I am easily persuaded. Basically, if one person asks me I will often do it! Once I started I was thrilled with the results and very excited to keep going.
My compositional intentions for the quilt always meant it would be 6 rows (although everyone is free to put it together however they like.) That really lent itself well to a rainbow order, as you can see. Each block contains a different two fabrics, so that even in a single coloured row, no two fabrics are repeated.
When you compare it to the other two versions I made - here and here - the result is quite different. That is one of the things I like the most about doing these sewalongs. Each quilt is so unique at the end. It is a showcase for the techniques, yes, but also personal creativity. If you simply play you can get some very exciting results!
To finish this version I will likely quilt rainbow stripes in coordinating thread colours. Yes, it means 6 thread changes, but it will be worth it!
