2023 Quilters' Playcation Adventure Sewalong - Abstract Top Complete

Not sure why, but I sat on the last month of this quilt top for ages. Needing the joy of play this past weekend got me to go ahead and make the final month in this 2023 Adventure.

The last month was all about the treasure itself. Pirate treasure is typically jewels and gold so I pulled out some warm, golden scraps and had fun playing with basic crumb piecing. The bold blue background is the perfect foil for all the treasure.

2023 was a different year for the Adventure Sewalong, going monthly instead of weekly. Also different in terms of having a very specific theme to the entire year. This abstract version was a fun way to play with the construction techniques. It was a challenge for me to work on the smaller scale. I just always want to make things big, even if I piece small! But setting that challenge forced me to distill the design elements into something entirely different. It was a good challenge.
