Quilters' Playcation Adventure Sewalong Month 7 - Solids

Moving along on this abstract version of the Adventure Sewalong. It needed a jolt!

I think that pink really serves, don't you? Up next is to get back to a more block like row. This is the abstract version of our treasure map so there are no rules about what has to happen. But I am looking at the composition and seeing that it needs to come back to the blocks you see at the top. Not those specific blocks, but the notion of repeat that it gives. 

When you work in abstractions you can't throw all design rules out. You are still, hopefully, trying to create a cohesive piece. That's why I am looking at the colour, repetition, and layout of the rows. Are there rules to do this? I don't think so. It comes down to feel, to instinct. How do you develop that instinct? It doesn't just happen for the vast majority of us. The best way to develop that instinct is to explore, to create, to play.
